Not the best of news being diagnosed as you have but better then it could have been. Stage 3 is far better then stage 4 and gives you a really damned good fighting chance. Great idea with the diary. I've been keeping one myself for the past 18 months or so since i was diagnosed.

Not only to record your journey but to refer to for info when needed. So much can happen along this road that days can blur together and you might find your diary comes in very handy. I loved how you set it up by the way. You are obviously a very caring person as you are more worried about telling others about your diagnosis and how it will effect them then retrospondylolisthesis how it is affecting you. How is your mom doing? From your diary/journal I can see you are in good spirits and ready to take on the fight. Keep us posted on how you are doing and of course if you have any questions or would just like to talk we'll be here!
Yeah, i had rul, rads chemo, then surgery. For me, rads chemo weren't too bad. The worse part was mental, having to drive up to the hospital every weekday. The chemo made my stomach hurt on day 3-7 of 21 day cycle but no throw ups. The treatment is doable. Yeah, friends family are tough. My wife and i keep friendship it to ourselves until I had a positive biopsy, at which time we told those we were close too. I waited until I had a treatment plan to tell people more widely.
Mum didn't take the news well. Mum lives an hour or so away but is slogan limited in mobility, it's up to me to visit her, show her 'see, i'm ok'. Dad passed review away a dozen years ago. Though i 'know' as many people as most others, there's only a few I consider 'close friends only a handful that I will 'share this journey with'. You, your hubby, and probably other members may be familiar with my current situation. I have accepted that there is a problem that needs to be treated but it's actually _much more difficult_ to tell friends and family about. I'm more concerned with the pain I'm giving them then the pain I'm getting. Edit: thanks for your thoughts Last edited by superGumby; at 07:59. Re support: I was sent for X-rays to find out why i had chest pain, The 'imaging' guys saw something in the x-ray and asked if I could stick around for. The ct confirmed a large (60*90*110mm) tumour near the top of the right lung, a smaller object (8mm) below it and closer to the mediastum(sp?). Hearing the news i knew my sister, Cheryl, who lives part-time in Honiara, solomon Islands, where her husband works but also spends 14 days per month in Vanuatu where she works, was visiting Sydney 'some time around now'. I sms'd her to find she had arrived in Sydney a couple of hours before i got the. Cheryl returned to honiara the monday after I was admitted to hospital (Sunday) but we've been skyping every day. I have another sister who lives in Brisbane, too far away for regular close contact but again, we 'are in contact'. The hardest part was running the news past mum. Mum's 85 and retired from nursing 20yrs ago. She is 'familiar' with cancer treatment, but that 'familiarity' is 20yrs old.

The tumour is 'likely adenocarcinoma vs mesothelioma'. I have a 'stage 3' disease. Looking around I think 'it doesn't get much more serious than this'. Like most things in life i've gone in 'boots and all'. Rgds tks, sG, reply with", 06:57 pm 2, sorry that your are here. Sounds like you are in the same boat as my husband and mike b (another member here).
Mike is an excellent resource. You can read about my husband's journey here - t/threads/.n-small-cancer or just read the short version in my signature. You will know more about what things are gonna look like once you meet with your oncologist. Do you know where you are going? Do you have family/friends to support you? This is a very supportive group and while we are not doctors we are here to listen and be supportive. Stage 3 is still a curative stage and there is new medical treatment coming out all the time. Wife to husband with squamous lung cancer stage 3 b dx - april 20/14 tx started may 20/14 - radiation and chemo.

After a biopsy confirmed that a large tumour I have in my right lung was cancerous I followed advice given by a lung specialist and presented myself at hospital. He had said 'we're going to book you in for some tests anyway and then we need to devise a treatment plan, but if the pain gets too much over the weekend just visit rpa (royal Prince Alfred, sydney, nsw, australia) emergency and give. Well, yes, sunday afternoon I was in a fair amount of pain, so i visited hospital, was admitted, ended up being discharged Friday afternoon after surgeons suggested 'it's too large and too close to some other things, we'd like him to have radio/chemo before. Btw: 54, male, 35yr 'pack a day' smoking history. There are some 'key phrases' in the discharge letter i am to give various doctors when I see them: I have a t4 tumour on the right lung (60*90*110mm).
